Systems in Vietnam suffer more than 4,600 cyber attack incidents
From the beginning of the year to the end of April, the Information Security Department has recorded, warned and guided the handling of 4,616 cyber attacks causing problems with information systems in Vietnam.
Assessing the information security assurance work of agencies and organizations in April 2022, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the standing agency of the National Committee on Digital Transformation, said that the inspection, evaluation, supervision, ensuring safety and cybersecurity for information systems serving the e-Government continues to be promoted.
In April 2022, the National Cyber Security Monitoring Center (NCSC) under the Information Security Department of the Ministry of Information And Communications recorded, warned and guided the handling of 938 cyber attacks causing problems with information systems in Vietnam; down 9.37% compared to March 2022.
Previously, according to statistics from the NCSC Center’s system, in the first quarter of this year, there were 3,678 cyber attacks causing problems with information systems in Vietnam that were recorded, warned and handled by the agency.Thus, in the first 4 months of this year, the total number of cyber attacks on information systems in Vietnam caused 4,616 incidents.
The number of cyber attacks on information systems in Vietnam in April decreased by 9.37% compared to the previous month.
In order to ensure cyberinformation security, the Ministry of Information and Communications said that in the coming time, it will strengthen the monitoring, proactively scan in Vietnam’s cyberspace, evaluate, statistics and continue to promote propaganda and warning on the mass media for users to know and avoid.
Earlier, in the discussion at the seminar on the study of cryptography application and information security recently, representatives of the Information Security Department, Ministry of Information and Communications once again emphasized the view of ensuring information security in digital transformation that was clearly stated by the Prime Minister in the National Digital Transformation Program.It is: “Ensuring safety and cybersecurity is key to successful and sustainable digital transformation, as well as an integral part of digital transformation.All equipment, products, software, information systems, IT investment projects have a mandatory configuration of cybersecurity and safety from the moment of design.”
Representatives of the Information Security Department asked agencies, organizations, businesses and communities to coordinate with the Ministry of Information and Communications to implement the national strategy on information security in the period to 2030, fully implementing 7 solutions and 2 principles of information security in digital transformation.
Specifically, the two principles of ensuring cyber safety and security in digital transformation are: Not ensuring information security is not put into use; Test information systems with real data need to be ensured information security like the official information system.
Seven cyberinformation security solutions recommended by the Information Security Department and the Ministry of Information and Communications to focus on implementing include: Internal software developed by professional units, complying with development according to the process of Safety Software Development Framework (DevSecOps); The information system fully implements the plan to ensure information security according to the level; The information system is managed and operated according to a 4-layer model (including on-site forces; professional protection supervision; independent inspection and evaluation; connection and sharing of monitoring data to the National Cyber Safety Monitoring Center); The information system shall be inspected and evaluated for cyberinformation security before being put into use, when upgraded, changed and periodically as prescribed; Information security monitoring; Protection of personal information; Centralized malware prevention.
“Information security is an important and prerequisite.Humanity will have changes in living space.And every shift requires safety.We would like to affirm that information security for all and need the companionship and participation of all ministries, sectors, localities, organizations, businesses and the whole community” emphasized the representative of the Information Security Department.
